Farewell X14

From 20th July Arriva's Darlington network will be completely relaunched.... more details about that soon!
This means that service X14 that currently runs between Middlesbrough, Stockton and Darlington will be renumbered X66 (to suit the A66 that it runs along for most of it's journey). This will see the end of the service number X14 after many years.
7271 Stockton
The new X66 will run to a new timetable giving a half hourly service between Darlington and Middlesbrough during the daytime.
A new addition is an hourly service on Sundays between Darlington and Middlesbrough. Certain journeys will also be extended beyond Middlesbrough to serve Redcar, giving a through service between Darlington and Redcar again!

Some Service Updates

Well this month sees some minor service changes in the Tees Valley area...

From Sunday, May 4th
New improved timetables for the summer season were introduced on seaside services X56/56 and 93 between Middlesbrough, Whitby and Scarborough.
X56: Gives an hourly service during the day between Middlesbrough and Whitby, plus hourly short services between Middlesbrough and Loftus/Easington, giving a half hourly service between Middlesbrough and Loftus.
93: Gives an hourly service between Middlesbrough and Scarborough with some faster X93's in each direction during the morning (southbound) and afternoon (northbound).
Timetables: 56/X56 93/X93

From Sunday, May 18th
First off there's Arriva with their X3/X4 services between Middlesbrough, Redcar and Loftus - one minor change is that they will no longer serve the bus stops outside the old bus station at the eastern end of the high street. There are also a few minor timing changes during the day. See here for the new timetable.
Also a new long distance service X60 starts - between Newcastle Eldon Square and Scarborough, serving Gateshead, Peterlee, Billingham, Middlesbrough, Whitby and Scarborough and a few places in between. This gives Tyneside a link to Whitby and Scarborough in the summer months along with service X61 from Durham and Darlington. This service will run every Sunday and Bank Holiday from May 18th, and daily between Sunday 20th July - 7th September. It is anticipated that like Service X61, this service will also be run with a double decker providing plenty of room for your trip to the seaside! Timetables: X60 X61

From Tuesday, May 27th
Go North East will introduce a new early morning commuter journey on the X10 Newcastle - Middlesbrough service. This service will run Monday to Friday, leaving Newcastle at 0500, serving Gateshead, Peterlee, Norton (0559), Stockton (0604) and Teesdale (0608) arriving into Middlesbrough at 0615. The return journey leaves Middlesbrough at 0620 serving Teesdale (0628), Stockton (0633), Norton (0639), Peterlee and Gateshead, arriving into Eldon Square in Newcastle at 0740. Unfortunately this service will not run on Saturdays, the new timetable can be found here

Welcome

Welcome to a new blog designed to make travelling by bus in the Tees Valley area much easier. The main purpose of this site is to make finding out about your bus much easier, and also to let people know of updates to timetables and other information that people may need. It will also try to make people aware of just how easy it is to get around the area and to shake off the image of bus travel as being slow and expensive!
